However, there remains a gap in the literature regarding the beliefs of first-generation college students, who often face unique challenges. This study investigates the mathematical beliefs of first-generation calculus students using the Indiana Mathematics Beliefs Scale (IBMS) and explores their potential implications for STEM retention.
